Winter in Canberra's Hilltop Reserves

A cheat's list of plants to see in Winter.

Flowering and other features based on month photographed by Friends of Aranda Bushland for 'Our Patch, field guide to the flora of the Australian Capital Region as photographed in Aranda Bushland'.

Canberra winters can be great walking weather with interesting flora to view - even though there are no July photos in 'Our Patch'. The best days start with fog or frost and clear to bright blue skies with lots of sun - warm enough for walking in tee shirts in the middle of the day. Snow is rare enough to be exciting. It stays in the hills for a few days at a time, but seldom for longer than half a hour in the suburbs.

Peak flowering may be earlier or later in other areas and can also vary with season.
